1968 Charger restomod
Re: 1968 Charger restomod
The McLeod RXT-1200 twin disc clutch came in today. Good for up to 1200 horsepower at the crankshaft.
I decided to go with an (SFI approved) aluminum flywheel. The clutch assembly weighs 40 pounds and the aluminum flywheel weighs 13,5 pounds. That should be plenty of weight all together to keep the inertia going.

I'm still waiting on a bunch of parts that are on backorder, so there is not much going on with my hooptie... but for your entertainment, my buddy Chris made another video.

Merk het.
Dacht eerst dat de verwijzing naar de mobiele site van Youtube het probleem was maar blijkbaar niet.

Still waiting on parts from Milodon. I was told that because not many people are doing this swap, they don't keep the parts that I need in stock. Hopefully I will have them at the end of this month.

Re: 1968 Charger restomod
After almost 4 months of waiting, today finally the last part for the oil pan conversion came in.
Once all the Milodon parts are on, the engine can be test fitted in the factory k frame... and then we'll see what has to be customized.

Re: 1968 Charger restomod
Well, we found out that the Milodon oil pan with kick-outs doesn't fit in the factory k-frame... so it's being exchanged for one without kick-outs.
Also, the stock fuel tank that is under the car now that Chris welded a sump on is going to be replaced with an Aeromotive generation 2 Stealth tank.
It has a built in 525 Liter/hour pump, good to support up to 900 horsepower.
The main reason for the swap is that the pump will be cooled by the fuel inside the tank.
In the area that we live here, the summers are HOT... and remote fuel pumps usually don't last long.
Also, the pump is mounted in a baffle to maintain an ample fuel supply around the inlet of the pump while ensuring consistent fuel delivery and drivability in low fuel conditions.

Re: 1968 Charger restomod
Voor mijn 6.4 hemi met stock k-member heb ik mijn TTI biscuit style motor mounts aan moeten passen. Maar dat kwam eerder door de versnellingsbak. Het geheel is 3 cm naar voren verplaatst.
Re: 1968 Charger restomod
I have conversion mounts from Mancini racing. Supposedly they don't need any fabrication done. We'll see if it's true. The blocks, 5.7/6.1/6.2/6.4 are all the same dimensions on the outside.

Re: 1968 Charger restomod
Hi Blade,
Did you lifted the front of the body and then mount the K member including engine from underneith?
I was also thinking to do it like that on my 1973 charger, but wasn't sure if it would be possible...

Re: 1968 Charger restomod
Dat is uiteindelijk wel de makkelijkste manier om je motor te plaatsen. De minste beschadigingen ook. Als je het voor elkaar krijgt zou ik hem altijd van onderen plaatsen.

Yes, the front of the car was lifted and lowered over the unit as you see it here in this picture.jmkcharger73 wrote: ↑13 Jan 2020, 08:41 Hi Blade,

The factory did it the same way in 1968.
